The Digital Cave is a short philosophical film (5:48 min) inspired by philosopher and artist Hito Steyerl’s ‘Factory of the Sun’ and Plato’s ‘Allegory of the Cave’. The film introduces the self-determined concept of The Digital Cave. Steyerl argues that every medium contains white noise. As a result, The Image and The     Media produce a distorted image of reality, causing our images to no longer represent reality, but rather presenting us with a hyperreality. Society’s attitude can be characterized by the acceptance of these distorted representations of the world as reality, as actuality. We are stuck in a Digital Cave where The Image and The Media represent only the distorted shadows of reality. We are in need of a philosopher who will free us from the chains of our false beliefs, and who will lead us out of the cave into the light of reality.
